Ticket Stubs: Breaking Benjamin, Morcheeba, Say Anything, Digitalism

- Breaking Benjamin “didn’t just take the stage, they f—ing suppressed it! Talk about showmanship! Two-thirds through their performance, Ben Burnley invited two friends to come out on stage and perform a song while he went into the crowd to hand out an entire case of water. I’ve been to plenty of shows and know how hot it gets in the pit. It’s always appreciated when a band tosses a few bottles of water out. And usually that’s all it is; four or five bottles. Literally, two cases of water were passed out!” (The Sock Puppets From Hell)

- “Pretty damn cool last night! The lead singer is GORGEOUS, although apparently she is one of three they have had. She’s French. cute and sexy. … The lead guitarist, though (and founder of Morcheeba)? Holy mother of God — towards the end of the night he turned into Tom Morello. He was ROCKING that guitar out. I was completely impressed. Enthralled. That guy was good. And he was completely into it. They also had a saxophone solo that rocked my socks off.” (The Ratio Of People To Cake Is Too Big)

- “My god. That was so much fun. … I hope I never forget this. I hope that if I ever have a seizure or I get Alzheimer’s or something, I’ll always remember Max Bemis and my friends and dancing and Say Anything and an amazing night. I had been counting down for April 2nd for a long time. It was worth it.” (3×5)

- “Having attended a lot of electronic/DJ shows, I am used to watching a couple guys stand on stage, play around with their MacBook Pro, take swigs of Hennessy and occasionally adjust their hats. [Digitalism’s] Jens Moelle and İsmail Tüfekçi put them to shame. They took over the whole stage, with real turntables and mics. (Did you know that the vocals on their tracks are not computer-generated but are their own voices? I did not.) Foregoing the aloofness that is typical of their peers, they jumped around, danced, sang and engaged the crowd through a heavy German accent.” (Losanjealous)

Boys Noize- Oi Oi Oi

German electro upstart Boys Noize brings the noise on his debut album. 'Oi Oi Oi' arrives in September.

Boys Noize is actually just one guy, Berlin producer Alexander Ridha, whose thrashy in-yer-face electro has netted a wide audience on labels such as Turbo, Institubes, Kitsune and Relish. Happy Boys Noize remix clients include Depeche Mode, Bloc Party, Feist, Tiga and the Kaiser Chiefs, while as a DJ, lately he's been the chosen understudy on the Soulwax and Justice tours. Ridha also runs his own label Boys Noize Records. A busy boy indeed then.

'Oi Oi Oi' (that title!) is a twelve-track noise fest of party electro with hip hop inspired song titles like 'Wu Tang' and 'Don't Believe The Hype' (Ridha is a Public Enemy fan). But don't expect trendy Modular-esque indie dance though. "Fuck off new rave... and bring back the party techno, " says Ridha in a message to fans on his MySpace. Spoken like a true oik.

Vitalic - V live

The new live album from electro-rocker Vitalic includes eight previously unreleased tracks. 'V Live' hits shelves later this month.

The album was recorded at Ancienne Belgique in Brussels in October 2006, and while it won't feature visuals from Vitalic's new stage show, the audio CD promises to be an unedited, post-production-free version of his live set.

The album features live versions of 'La Rock 01' (first released in 2001!) and 'My Friend Dario' from his 2005 album 'OK Cowboy', but Vitalic fans starved of new material will especially be listening out for those eight new cuts. You can previews four tracks from the album at Vitalic's V Live MySpace page.
